McAvoy Take Part in Annual Health & Safety Day

As a responsible employer we acknowledge how important it is to exercise a strong duty of care towards all our staff, which is why yesterday, McAvoy participated in our annual Health and Safety Day.

The purpose of the day was to reinforce the Mental Health message and provide our staff with the means to reach out and gain information on where to find help, as well as the importance of speaking up and reporting safety concerns.

We were fortunate enough to have AWARE NI join us to speak to our staff about the importance of mental health. Nigel Fyffe provided us with an outlook on mental health within Northern Ireland and the services that AWARE NI offer such as online support groups, mindfulness as well as education and training. He also discussed the effects poor mental health can have on the body and what we can do to support not only ourselves but each other.

We were also joined by Jennifer Deeney, who provided us with a very personal and tragic story on the devasting consequences a workplace fatality can have on those left behind. The impact of this story was felt by all, and we truly believe nothing is so important that it can’t be done safely.

We will ensure we continue to support our employees to speak out and get help when they need it.
