McAvoy win two awards at SERC Excellence Awards

The McAvoy Group are to be recognised for their commitment to training and enhancing students experience at the South Eastern Regional College Excellence Awards.

Continuing McAvoy’s partnership with SERC in 2016, McAvoy employed 4 apprentices in April. The McAvoy Group has become a major employer for the SERC Carpentry & Joinery Department (Lisburn Campus), with further plans in place for additional apprentices to be provided employment in 2017.

McAvoy has been awarded an SERC Business Excellence Award for continuing to provide students with invaluable experience in the completion of their Level 2 NVQ in Site Carpentry, following on to Level 3. With McAvoy projects being built offsite in a controlled factory environment, students have been able to gain experience on all aspects of a project, from conception through to completion.

Stuart Marshall, who completed his Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Site Carpentry in August 2016 alongside his apprenticeship at McAvoy, has been awarded Apprentice of the Year at the SERC Excellence Awards. Stuart has been recognised for this award due to his drive to develop his skills and make significant progress in a short space of time, both through his NVQ studies and his apprenticeship at McAvoy. Stuart has pushed to the front of his career and has gained the award for his hard work, continuing to progress with McAvoy following a positive 6 month review within the company.

Everyone at McAvoy would like to congratulate Stuart on his award and continuing progress at McAvoy.

The awards ceremony will take place at SERC Lisburn Campus on the 6th February 2017.
