The McAvoy Group were delighted to welcome students from Southern Regional College to their manufacturing facility in Lisburn recently.
Year 1 and 2 students studying Pearson/BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Construction & the Built Environment received a presentation from David Clark, Head of Manufacturing & Innovation, detailing The McAvoy Group’s offsite capabilities, as well as showcasing the recently completed West Hill SEN School in Leatherhead, Surrey.
Students and staff also received a tour of the manufacturing facility in Lisburn. During the factory tour, the students got the chance to view a live project at manufacturing stage, allowing them to get a better understanding of offsite modular construction and the benefits it holds over traditional builds.
James Smith, Lecturer in School of Construction & the Built Environment at SRC commented,
“On behalf of the lecturing team and construction students can I take this opportunity to thank-you for your presentation and arrangements for our site visit.
“This event has been most informative and a meaningful experience for our students, as they now appreciate the advancement in building design and advantages of Modern Methods of Construction. Many of the observations made during the visit can now be used to enhance classroom delivery.”
