People: the core of our success

We nurture a culture which embraces diversity and inclusion. We develop our employees to reach their full potential both professionally and personally. We utilise our employees’ talents and resources to maximise the efficiency and success of McAvoy. We recognise and celebrate our employees’ achievements.

“We believe our package of employee benefits are amongst the best in the industry. We want our people to feel valued and respected.”

Diversity and Inclusion

We recognise that the richness and uniqueness of our company culture stems from the fact that we have worked tirelessly since our establishment to achieve a diverse and inclusive workforce.

We value diversity and promote inclusion across all areas of our business. For many years we have been proud to have gender diversity across all levels of the business. Nowadays, that commitment to diversity spans the whole spectrum of inclusion and makes us what we are today.

Safety, Health and Wellbeing

As a responsible employer we acknowledge how important is to exercise a strong duty of care towards all our staff.

Our building practices ensure quieter, cleaner, and safer sites. Health and safety is at the forefront of business from the factory floor to our offices and construction sites.

Working tirelessly to ensure zero accidents in the workplace, we adhere to stringent measures to protect our staff’s physical safety. Risk assessment, audits, robust induction programme and toolbox talks on the shop floor all form part of our ongoing health and safety measures.

We exercise our stringent health and safety responsibilities, in accordance with governmental directives, both in the UK and Ireland. These include accreditations such as CHAS, SafePass, Safe-T-Cert and OHSAS 18001 which demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement in Health and Safety.

We know that a healthy workforce is a happy one and with morale a key focus, a number of employee initiatives take place annually to embrace, motivate and contribute to the ‘whole person’.

A stop smoking campaign and myriad health checks have been integral to the holistic approach employed to foster wellbeing at work. Clubs, societies, and representative forums aimed at encouraging camaraderie among staff are also part of an all-encompassing, collaborative support network.

We are committed to launching initiatives throughout the year which have a positive impact on the wellbeing of our staff and the communities we work in. Whether it is a company-wide Steps Challenge, charity mountain climb or food bank donation, we select initiatives that people care about the most.

McAvoy’s employee assistance programme offers a range of support in the form of face-to-face counselling sessions, virtual GP services and an industry leading health scheme available to all employees at every level from day one. All staff have access to an online wellbeing and fitness platform to help improve physical and mental wellbeing by offering a range of features including: a choice of more than 300 workouts and fitness classes, meditation classes, yoga classes, nutritional advice, custom calorie tracker, and a host of downloadable meal plans.

Training and Development

At McAvoy we not only equip individuals to do their jobs, but we also endeavour to put in place the foundations upon which they can build a pathway towards successful careers.

We work in partnership with a range of private sector and industry bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Building, to create and deliver robust training and development programmes that extend beyond our mandatory requirements – right across all our activities from manufacturing to design, health and safety and site management.

We pride ourselves in being a responsible, learning organisation that is committed to developing and retaining our people and supporting them to achieve personal and business goals.
