Orla Corr OBE is Executive Chairperson and shareholder of The McAvoy Group. The McAvoy Group is a forward-thinking, off-site construction provider embracing the future of the industry through a niche offering of 3D modular and 2D panel system builds.

As a principal contractor delivering Offsite Modular Construction, Modular Build and Modular Hire solutions McAvoy works closely and diligently with clients to realise pioneering projects that span numerous industries under different frameworks – from education to health, infrastructure to sport and leisure and commercial.

Orla joined McAvoy as Financial Director and was appointed MD five years later. Orla stepped down from this role in late 2007, choosing to concentrate on her real passion of business development and marketing in 2008. In 2008 she became the first woman to be introduced into the Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame in recognition of her business achievements within The McAvoy Group.

She is a past winner of the Women in Business NI’s Award for Entrepreneurship / Innovation and the Outstanding Business Woman of the Year. She holds the distinction of becoming the first Entrepreneur in Residence in the new Leadership Institute at Queen’s University Belfast’s Management School.

Eugene Lynch, FCA, joined McAvoy as Managing Director in late 2007 and has 20+ years’ experience in general management and leadership positions across a number of sectors.

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1985 Eugene has pursued a career in business, first with Hughes Christensen, a drill bit manufacturer for the Oil and Gas Industry, from 1988 to 1999 progressing through the finance function to General Manager in 1993. He moved to the JP Corry Group Ltd, a NI headquartered Builders Merchant Group operating throughout GB and Ireland, in 1999 as Group Director of Operations. The Group was successfully sold to St Gobain S.A. in 2006.

Lorraine commenced her professional training with Coopers & Lybrand and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2000 with PwC, having spent time in Audit, internal & external & client training.

Lorraine is responsible for the finance, administration & IT functions of the Group.

Rory Miskelly joined McAvoy in 2013 as a Non-Executive Director. Rory is a Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Builder and has over 25 years’ experience in the Contracting and Consultancy sides of the UK construction industry working for large UK companies. Rory has worked in the Education, Retail, Health, Leisure, Arts and Tourism sectors and is an experienced Programme and Project Manager who has successfully delivered a large number of high profile projects in local industry. Rory has recently taken up a new role as head of the GAA’s Casement Park redevelopment project in west Belfast.

Conor McAvoy is responsible for McAvoy’s Hire Division which includes depots in Lisburn, Dublin and Oxford. Conor oversees a team of staff, ensuring that customer expectations are met by providing high quality buildings (new and used) which meet all relevant regulations.

Conor also leads McAvoy’s Special Works division which provides ex-stock buildings to the commercial and construction sectors.

Colin Courtney was appointed as non-executive director in May 2016.

Colin Courtney comes with an impressive cv including extensive senior management experience across the UK and international markets in both the private and public sectors. Colin is passionate about sustainability, innovation, training and health & safety.

He holds an MBA and a BSc. (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering as well as being a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE). He was also recently appointed by the Secretary of State (Defra) to the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Conservation Board.

In 2013 he assisted the UK Government with the development of the joint Government / Industry strategy for construction – Construction 2025. He is also a past member of the Government’s Green Construction Board and Chair of its Promotion Working Group.

During his time as Strategy and Business Development Director of J Murphy & Sons the company achieved UK ‘Superbrand’ status and enhanced its reputation and culture of innovation.

Colin has also worked in various senior roles within construction giant, Skanska.

Raymond has recently taken up the position of Construction Director.

Prior to joining The McAvoy Group, Raymond has built an impressive career in the construction industry throughout GB and Ireland and brings extensive experience on numerous contract types and procurement methods ranging from traditional, framework, design and build, PFI and target cost and open book accounting for a diverse client base, to lead and complement our Contract Delivery team.

His focus is in the development and roll out of best practice in conjunction with Commercial, Procurement and Construction disciplines.

Raymond is a qualified Quantity Surveyor and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building. He has over 28 years’ experience in the construction sector, having previously held roles at the Henry Group, White Mountain Construction, Farrans Construction and Walls Construction.

Geoff has recently taken up the position of Business Development & Marketing Director.

Prior to joining The McAvoy Group, Geoff has built an impressive career in the construction industry throughout the UK and brings extensive experience of property matters from both planning and legal perspectives, running multi-site operations, leading and managing both commercial and business development functions (key account management, market sector analysis and the bidding of major projects) and also marketing activities, both strategic and tactical, including communications and PR.

His focus is in understanding the needs of the construction sectors, developing key account relationships with key clients, consultants and contractors in line with a CRM approach, development of a pipeline aligned to our strategy and bid process, to integrate seamlessly with our delivery teams.

Geoff is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Management. He has over 25 years’ experience in the construction sector, having previously held roles at Tilcon Limited, Tarmac Limited, Lafarge Tarmac and Tarmac (CRH).

In his current position of Commercial Manager Stephen is responsible for the Estimating function of the company, both at tender and pre-construction stage. In this role, Stephen is responsible for Commercial aspects of projects ranging from £500k-£17m prior to handover to the delivery team.

David Clark stands at the forefront of innovation within The McAvoy Group and has spent the last number of years dedicating himself to the industry shift towards digital construction and offsite technologies. His vision is to embed innovation into all divisions of the company and align this to the strategic needs of the business.

In a fast paced world of technological change, David has led The McAvoy Group to achieve its goal of being ready to deliver BIM (Building Information Modelling) Level 2 services to its clients. As the construction sector shifts towards a need for greater levels of digital information, including data-rich 3D models of buildings, David has ensured that The McAvoy Group is, and will remain, at the forefront of this “digital revolution” in the offsite construction industry across the UK and Ireland.

Throughout his 20 years working in the construction industry, and in particular the past five years with McAvoy, David has always been involved with design and has kept abreast of the latest 3D software solutions available. This has enabled him to introduce software-enhanced solutions that provide both 3D data to the front-end client interface and the back-end manufacturing and construction needs.

David has a BSc in Manufacturing Management and is currently undertaking part-time study for an MSc in Construction Project Management and BIM at Queen’s University Belfast. He seeks to share his knowledge of digital construction with as wide an audience as possible, through keynote presentations at events across the UK.

Paul has responsibility for monitoring our supply chain to make sure they comply with McAvoy requirements in terms of our ethical sourcing, sustainability and quality charters.

Paul Kennedy joined McAvoy in 1995 during which time he has progressed through the ranks to become Contracts Manager then Group Production Manager before achieving his current position as Modular Division Manager. This has given him breadth of experience over all aspects of McAvoy products and processes both on and off site. His current role involves management of the delivery team for Modular projects which includes the three production sites, the implementation of safe working practices and risk assessing all areas and work methods.  Programming, design, procurement, value engineering, on site construction and final handover of Modular projects.

Martin Harvey has over 15 years’ experience in the construction industry, working in a number of architectural practices in both Northern Ireland and England before joining The McAvoy Group in 2011 as part of the Internal Design Team.

Martin has progressed within the Design Team to lead the POSC Design Management Team and has recently taken up the role of Design Manager of the Design and Technical Services Department. To date, Martin has worked on some of the largest projects carried out by the McAvoy Group in commercial, hire, education and healthcare sectors.

In his day to day role heading up the design team, Martin manages the designs so that they are produced on time and are designed to maximise the use of offsite construction. Martin also ensures designs meet the latest planning legislation, building and CDM regulations, as well as managing both internal designers and external survey and design consultants.
