Smart Pop Up Coffee Shop At Forestside

Attridge and Cole is a mobile coffee catering company which serves hand crafted coffees and pastries from their restored Citroen H Van. The company is expanding its service offering into a range of pop up coffee shops at shopping centres on long and short term leases. The company appointed McAvoy to design and build their first pop up shop at Forestside Shopping Centre in Belfast which opened in November.

 The company wanted the kiosk to have the same look and feel as their customised van and tasked McAvoy with developing a smart design which would change the aesthetic of the temporary building. We achieved this by using Aroka timber and sinusoidal powder coated steel cladding. McAvoy was responsible for all M&E work and fit-out.


The McAvoy Group was awarded this Contract  to design and build a 190m2 single storey office building.

The Requirement

Montgomery Transport is part of the respected Ballyvesey Holdings conglomerate, providing logistical and transport services to a diverse client base. As a consequence of strategic growth, Montgomery had a requirement for a modern, functional and cost effective operations centre to manage their fleet of articulated vehicles around Dublin Port, the Greater Dublin area and beyond.

Montgomery required their capital investment to deliver value to the business in as short a time as possible. The construction of an offsite produced, fast track modular building was the ideal solution. The client could therefore leverage commercial value from their asset within 12 weeks of instruction.

The Solution

McAvoy’s experienced and qualified Technical and Design Team produced a design for a single storey galvanised steel frame building with a PPC Aluminium window system, and an insulated, bonded panel external wall with Corus Colourcoat Plastisol finish. The roof was a Kingspan KS1000RW insulated panel system. The design and construction met or exceeded all local and national statutory regulations.

McAvoy was responsible for delivering a turnkey package including civil and below ground works, drainage and service connections. Mechanical and electrical installations included heating, cooling, lighting, power and data installations. Staff amenities included general offices and management suite, male and female welfare and locker rooms and a fully fitted canteen. Interior fit out included acoustic flooring and a suspended ceiling.

Contract Period

From initial enquiry through design, manufacture, delivery, installation and commissioning, McAvoy successfully completed the project in 16 weeks.
