McAvoy Achieves Framework Success

McAvoy Think Smart: Build Smart, the market leader in off-site construction techniques and modular buildings in the UK and Ireland, has again been named as a provider on The Government Procurement Service’s Framework for an extensive range of construction and professional services.

The duration of the Framework is four years and is the third successive time that McAvoy has achieved inclusion on the framework and its predecessor, Buying Solutions. This award is further recognition of McAvoy’s expertise in developing high quality buildings that offer exceptional value for money.

McAvoy, with manufacturing plants and sales depots based in Northern Ireland and GB, has secured the framework agreement through a competitive tendering process for modular buildings including applications for education, healthcare, custodial and local authority applications.

Orla Corr, Business Development Director, commenting on the new award from Government Procurement, said: “This is a tremendous endorsement by a very prestigious and important client of the work we have carried out in the public sector over the past decade.

“We look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with Government Procurement Service particularly at this time when the public sector is facing significant spending restraints and is increasingly looking at off-site construction and modular buildings for cost-effective solutions that also ensure high quality buildings and provide an efficient and effective procurement process.”

New Modular Office

We have been awarded the Design & Build Contract to manufacture, deliver, install and commission a 180m2 two storey Office and welfare facility on the Quay Side at Dublin Port. The building was commissioned by the client as a result of the growing significance of their onsite operation.

The nature of the exposed location, which is adjacent to the Irish Sea coast, dictated a building design that was robust but practical. As a result a 2 storey galvanised steel frame structure was choosen.

The external elevations incorporated a PPC Aluminium window system which took advantage of the iconic landmarks of the new Aviva Stadium and The Dublin Wheel as well as panoramic views of Dublin Bay. The Electrical installation include a High efficiency controlled lighting design, general power, data installation and Fire Alarm and the scope of the mechanical works include heating and sanitaryware.

The welfare facilities offer male and female toilet facilities, locker rooms and showers as well as a fully fitted canteen. The internal fit out consisted of acoustic flooring, suspended ceilings and a quality joinery fit out.

Modular Off-site Schools

McAvoy Think Smart Build Smart, the leading offsite modular construction firm, offers exciting new solutions in the battle to fast track more space for schools.

The James Review on the future of schools capital has been recently launched. The key watchwords from the review are building condition, standardisation and more for less. James stated in the report that “lower-cost build processes can be designed in from the start” and that “over time, off-site construction will be possible for some standard elements.”

With this in mind McAvoy has put 40 years experience to good use, developing options we know offer schools a real opportunity to gain quality accommodation that is deliverable within budgetary restraints and is more sustainable in use. This applies to all options, from single classrooms to entire schools.

As experts in offsite building, we know and understand exactly the types of issues clients face; this is why the whole McAvoy package is geared towards relieving the pressures associated with the planning and delivery of additional facilities within a working school environment.

Now is an ideal time to explore the opportunities that McAvoy can deliver. Ask us about our smart schools concepts.
