NEW CORK INVESTMENT FOR MCAVOY GROUP FOR MUNSTER REGION

The McAvoy Group, a market leader in modern prefabricated modular building technology, has strengthened its base in Cork to develop its business with both private and public sector clients throughout Munster.

The Group has acquired (the remaining shareholding of National Cabin Company (trading as Maccom Munster) at Watergrasshill Business Park, following on from an initial investment in the business in 2007, for use as a springboard for fast growth throughout the region.

The business will be known as McAvoy Off-site Solutions, an established and widely recognised brand in Ireland and the United Kingdom as a provider of modern and innovative prefabricated modular building solutions.

The Group, which has its headquarters at Dungannon in Co Tyrone, is Ireland's leading provider of permanent and temporary modular buildings in four distinct business areas:

- the design, off-site factory manufacture and installation of buildings including schools, hospitals, offices and retail units;

- the hire and sale of prefabricated modular units and antivandal buildings for a broad range of applications such as outdoor events, for staff welfare and secure storage;

- innovative, eco-friendly plug and play classroom accommodation, CleverClass, to the Department of Education;

- the design, factory manufacture and installation of bathroom, shower room and bedroom pods for hospitals, hotels, residential/nursing homes and other housing requirements.

The new and enhanced Cork operation will provide its complete product range to clients in Munster. It will also be a major hub in the Republic for McAvoy in terms of sales and marketing as well as administration.

McAvoy Group recently completed several major projects in the region including a management complex for the new Merck Sharp & Dohme Biologics Production Facility, Carlow; additional teaching facilities at Rushbrooke National School, Cobh; the expansion development at Sonas Special Junior School, Carrigaline; and 160 bathroom pods at two community nursing units in Farranlea and Ballincollig for BAM Construction..

In addition, McAvoy Group has supplied construction management buildings to Murphy International at Middleton, Co Cork and secure accommodation to the ESB at the Aghada Power Station, Aghada, Co Cork.
