The McAvoy Group appoints high profile non-executive director

GB-based Colin Courtney has strong credentials in both public and private sector

Leading offsite modular construction company, The McAvoy Group has appointed Colin Courtney as non-executive director to help deliver on its ambitious strategic development programme.

Colin Courtney comes with an impressive cv including extensive senior management experience across the UK and international markets in both the private and public sectors.

Colin is passionate about sustainability, innovation, training and health & safety.

He holds an MBA and a BSc. (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering as well as being a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE).

He was recently appointed by the Secretary of State (Defra) to the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Conservation Board.

In 2013 he assisted the UK Government with the development of the joint Government / Industry strategy for construction – Construction 2025. He is also a past member of the Government’s Green Construction Board and Chair of its Promotion Working Group.

During his time as Strategy and Business Development Director of J Murphy & Sons the company achieved UK ‘Superbrand’ status and enhanced its reputation and culture of innovation.

Colin has also worked in various senior roles within construction giant, Skanska.

McAvoy’s innovation processes are framed by the challenges set out in the UK Government’s Construction 2025 Strategy.

During its 44-year history McAvoy has completed modular projects in less than eight weeks, built a school from scratch in just 22 weeks, installed classrooms on the top of a three storey Victorian building and a high-tech theatre on top of a roof. Its expert team also built the largest modular building in Ireland.
