Orla Corr OBE is Executive Chairperson of The McAvoy Group, one of the UK’s leading offsite construction specialists.

Orla joined McAvoy as Financial Director and was appointed Managing Director five years later. She stepped down from this role in 2007, choosing to concentrate on her passions for marketing and business development.

In 2011, Orla received an OBE for services to the construction industry. Her other achievements have included becoming the first woman to enter the Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame for her business achievements at McAvoy. She is a past winner of the Women in Business Northern Ireland Award for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and the Outstanding Business Woman of the Year. She holds the distinction of being the first Entrepreneur in Residence in the Leadership Institute at Queen’s University Belfast’s Management School.

Outside of McAvoy, Orla holds the position of Honorary Treasurer at Queen’s University Belfast and is on the Board of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce.

An independent, family-owned business, McAvoy has been providing bespoke offsite solutions and interim modular buildings for nearly 50 years. The Group delivers fast-track projects of the highest quality for the health, education, commercial and infrastructure sectors, with less impact on the environment and greater assurance of completion on time and on budget.

Mark has worked in the construction industry for over three decades, most recently as a Group Director with CRH (3 years), the second largest building products business in the world, based in Dublin, employing 90,000 people in 31 countries. Prior to that he was CRH Country MD in Poland (4 years), MD of Northstone (3 years) and MD of Farrans Construction (5 years). He is a Fellow of the CIOB, the ICE and of the Irish Academy of Engineering, as well as Past-President of the CEF, Past-Chairman of the ICE (NI) and a Past Committee Member of the CBI (NI). From Co. Fermanagh, Mark has two adult children, Deborah and Ethan, and a Partner, Malgosia, whom he met in Poland.

Raymond Millar is Pre-Construction Director at The McAvoy Group, one of the leading offsite construction specialists in the UK and Ireland.

Prior to joining McAvoy, Raymond had built an impressive career in the construction industry, working throughout the UK and Ireland. He brings extensive experience of different contract types and procurement methods, ranging from traditional, framework, design and build, PFI and target cost and open book accounting for a diverse client base.

His focus is both Proposals and PCSA, working across commercial, procurement and construction aspects.

Raymond is a qualified Quantity Surveyor and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building. He has around three decades of experience in construction, having previously held roles in a number of leading construction companies.

With 25 years’ experience in construction and civil engineering, Martin brings a wide range of project delivery experience to his role. He has responsibility for delivering offsite projects to the highest quality standards whilst meeting McAvoy’s stringent health and safety requirements on every site. He collaborates at the initial design and procurement stages of a project and leads site operations to handover and post-completion. He works closely with the Group’s business development, commercial and manufacturing teams, giving clients the benefit of a fully seamless approach.

A member of the Institution of Engineers Ireland, Martin was previously Regional Director for Scotland and Northern England at Farrans Construction where he was responsible for around £100m of projects each year. He managed a full team of construction professionals, focusing on delivery of every project on budget, on programme and to the required quality and specification.

High profile contracts that Martin has been involved in include the Edinburgh Tram extension and the stunning new Northern Spire Bridge in Sunderland, as well as a series of major wind farm projects in England, Scotland and Wales.

Geoff has recently taken up the position of Business Development & Marketing Director.

Prior to joining The McAvoy Group, Geoff has built an impressive career in the construction industry throughout the UK and brings extensive experience of property matters from both planning and legal perspectives, running multi-site operations, leading and managing both commercial and business development functions (key account management, market sector analysis and the bidding of major projects) and also marketing activities, both strategic and tactical, including communications and PR.

His focus is in understanding the needs of the construction sectors, developing key account relationships with key clients, consultants and contractors in line with a CRM approach, development of a pipeline aligned to our strategy and bid process, to integrate seamlessly with our delivery teams.

Geoff is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Management. He has over 25 years’ experience in the construction sector, having previously held roles at Tilcon Limited, Tarmac Limited, Lafarge Tarmac and Tarmac (CRH).

David has overall responsibility for offsite manufacturing across The McAvoy Group. His role includes management of the expansion of production capacity to meet the business’s strategic growth plans. He is passionate about driving productivity improvements across the manufacturing process, embedding both automation and digital solutions where possible.

David also ensures McAvoy retains flexibility in its production systems to deliver a wide range of offsite solutions, including permanent, bespoke modular buildings for hospitals, schools and commercial applications; offsite housing for rent and market sale, and interim facilities to meet short-term customer needs.

In his previous role as Head of Manufacturing and Innovation, David led the Group’s pioneering and industry-leading work in applying the digital transformation to offsite construction. The use of BIM, digital scanning, tablets to collect data on site and other technologies such as virtual reality which enhances customer engagement have recently been recognised with the award of BIM Contractor of the Year to McAvoy at the BIM Awards.

David is a high-profile conference speaker on digital construction and has over 20 years’ experience in manufacturing for the construction sector. He holds an MSc in BIM and Project Management from Queen’s University Belfast and is actively involved in a number of industry bodies such as Buildoffsite, the Offsite Management School and the recently-launched Seismic consortium which aims to improve the design and offsite construction of primary schools.

Lorraine commenced her professional training with Coopers & Lybrand and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2000 with PwC, having spent time in Audit, internal & external & client training.

Lorraine is responsible for the finance, administration & IT functions of the Group.

Conor McAvoy is responsible for McAvoy’s Hire Division which includes depots in Lisburn, Dublin and Oxford. Conor oversees a team of staff, ensuring that customer expectations are met by providing high quality buildings (new and used) which meet all relevant regulations.

Conor also leads McAvoy’s Special Works division which provides ex-stock buildings to the commercial and construction sectors.

Rory Miskelly joined McAvoy in 2013 as a Non-Executive Director. Rory is a Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Builder and has over 25 years’ experience in the Contracting and Consultancy sides of the UK construction industry working for large UK companies. Rory has worked in the Education, Retail, Health, Leisure, Arts and Tourism sectors and is an experienced Programme and Project Manager who has successfully delivered a large number of high profile projects in local industry. Rory has recently taken up a new role as head of the GAA’s Casement Park redevelopment project in west Belfast.

In his current position of Commercial Manager Stephen is responsible for the Estimating function of the company, both at tender and pre-construction stage. In this role, Stephen is responsible for Commercial aspects of projects ranging from £500k-£17m prior to handover to the delivery team.

Paul Kennedy joined McAvoy in 1995 during which time he has progressed through the ranks to become Contracts Manager then Group Production Manager before achieving his current position as Modular Division Manager. This has given him breadth of experience over all aspects of McAvoy products and processes both on and off site. His current role involves management of the delivery team for Modular projects which includes the three production sites, the implementation of safe working practices and risk assessing all areas and work methods.  Programming, design, procurement, value engineering, on site construction and final handover of Modular projects.

Martin Harvey has over 15 years’ experience in the construction industry, working in a number of architectural practices in both Northern Ireland and England before joining The McAvoy Group in 2011 as part of the Internal Design Team.

Martin has progressed within the Design Team to lead the POSC Design Management Team and has recently taken up the role of Design Manager of the Design and Technical Services Department. To date, Martin has worked on some of the largest projects carried out by the McAvoy Group in commercial, hire, education and healthcare sectors.

In his day to day role heading up the design team, Martin manages the designs so that they are produced on time and are designed to maximise the use of offsite construction. Martin also ensures designs meet the latest planning legislation, building and CDM regulations, as well as managing both internal designers and external survey and design consultants.

Anne Watson joined McAvoy in 2001 as Human Resources Manager.  She holds membership of CIPD and IOSH.

Anne is responsible for recruitment, selection and retention, employee relations, learning and development, compensation and benefits and Group Health, Safety, Environmental and Wellbeing.  Her responsibilities also include managing OHSAS 18001, Safe T Cert (Grade A) and Investors in People.  She has 28 years’ experience within Human Resources and Health and Safety and has worked for Mackie International Inc and Goldenvale plc.
